Hello! I'm Leah, owner of Bloom San Juan, which is located at Ryan Farm in Friday Harbor, Washington. Ryan Farm is also host to my husband, Brady Ryan's businesses, San Juan Island Sea Salt and San Juan Island Honey.
I met Brady (a San Juan Island native) a few years ago when we were both working at Local Roots, a vegetable farm in Duvall, Washington. After working there for three years, Brady was able to start his first business, San Juan Island Sea Salt at Ryan Farm. The success of his business made me eager to start my own. With a lot of support (and an awesome plot of land!) I was able to plant my first round of flowers in 2013. We split our time between working day jobs in Seattle and farming on San Juan Island on the weekends. Which means we took way more late night and red-eye ferry rides than we would like to admit.
It wasn't until early 2014 that we decided Seattle and the crazy commute was no longer for us. So we got rid of nearly everything we owned, quit our city jobs and headed for the island with our Tiny House in tow. We now spend our time working for ourselves outside in one of the most beautiful places on earth, and haven't looked back since.
Farming is my passion, and seeing the happiness that flowers bring people makes all of the hard work worth it. I hope to be able to share a little piece of our flower, honey and salt paradise with you soon!
*When we aren't farming, you can find us making dinner with the Ryan clan, cuddling with the farm dogs, or hanging out in our tiny home, "Tina."
